DESCRIPTION:
Scarce, early antique leather bound book, "Vermont Reports".  Volume 71, "Reports of Cases Argued & Determined in the Supreme Court of the State of Vermont", by Wendell Stafford. It is annual Volume 71 of the Series, or Volume 3 of the New Series. It lists the Supreme Court judges during the period covered by this book. Also in the contents is a table of cases that are reported and included, and a table of names of cases that are cited in the opinions of the courts, etc.  Then the text proceeds with all the individual cases in complete detail. GREAT EARLY LEGAL READING !!!
Printed in 1900 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.  A nice looking, early leather bound book for a bookshelf. Very nice patina overall and leather is still soft. 543 pages long. Leather covers and text pages are in very good condition overall for the age. Binding is tight which is also uncommon for early books.
In the front is handwritten the owner lawyer's name: "Jed P. Ladd Book".
I can't do full justice with a description of contents here, but you will not be disappointed with the content. I include some of the contents pages so you can get a better idea of specific content. This is one volume of the entire set of law books that belonged to my great-grandfather, Jed P. Ladd, who was a lawyer in Northern Vermont, and his father, my great-great grandfather who was also a lawyer and county judge before him. The books range from 1840 through 1900. I will be selling the entire set if you are interested in additional volumes.
A great resource and interesting reading for anyone regarding historic Supreme Court .
