George L. MacLaine & Co is Northern Ireland’s oldest legal firm. The firm was originally established by James Andrews, a Belfast solicitor, he later went into partnership with George L. Maclaine. Following the death of George Maclaine in 1915, Omar C. Nelson and his son, William H.N. Nelson, took over the business and in 1919, Robert Victor Hamilton joined Geo. L. Maclaine & Co. Nelson and Hamilton are both engraved on the sign, so this dates the piece to 1919 - 1929
